What a wonderful reunion last weekend.  The degrees were outstanding, the luncheon was great and the day was beautiful.  Thanks to the many, many hands that helped make this reunion a success.  One of the best that I have seen.  You missed award winning performances if you didn’t attend.

New 6th Degree DVD

Brothers from the Valley of Canton have been given a project by Supreme Council to produce a movie of the 6th Degree Master of the Brazen Serpent.  Leading the Production as Executive Producer is Bro. Steve Warren who is Executive Producer of Sport Time Ohio and has numerous national awards for his work.  He has put a team of professional award winning videographers, Digital graphic Artists, and Cast Director to ensure we produce a professional presentation of the degree.

In order to cast for this degree, we have chosen to try and give opportunities to Valley membership within the State to take part in the degree.

The schedule of events includes auditions Sept 8th in Mansfield and Sept 15th at the Valley of Canton.  A cast is to be determined by the end of September.

Rehearsals are to be determined once a cast is chosen to work with the casts commitments.

Filming will be in a Cleveland studio November 16-18 for Scene 2 and in the Valley of Canton for Scene 1 Dec 15-16.

Please communicate to your brethren that these are open auditions.

Please ensure you send this particularly to the cast of the 6th from your Valley and those that you feel have the talent to make this production one Ohio and the NMJ can be proud of.  An Audition Form is attached and can be found on the Valley of Canton Website at www.cantonscottishrite.com .  Have the brothers complete the form and email it to auditions@cantonscottishrite.com or contact me at the phone below so I can gather the information.

We are also asking for your help for some props for the 6th Degree.  We are looking to find the Serpent Staff, a Large Rock (or how you present the people hiding), and the Tent.  We are also looking to utilize existing costuming/robes that your Valley could loan us for the production.

Good News for the Dyslexia Center

Hello All,

This is the news we have been waiting for!  We have approval from the Maumee Board of Education to use the Union School building.  No lease has been signed yet, but that is just a matter of all the right people signing off on it.  We also have the money to pay the rent for next year.

Now we have to start fund raising for our operational funds.  We need to raise $70,000 for next year.  We will be in touch when we need help to move.

Thanks for all your support, monetary and prayers,

Diane McCreery

Director

Quite a weekend

Your membership Chairman (Jeff Young) and I flew out to Lexington for the membership seminar this weekend and received a host of knowledgeable and useful ideas to bring back to the Valley of Toledo.  It was very informational, educational and well scheduled.  We found out that a lot of the Valleys (and some are rather large Valleys) had to make quite an adjustment to keep operational.  We are blessed to have the great members that we have.  I can see that we are doing well and will continue to go forward in the future.  Jeff and I are always open to new or improved ideas and we want you to let us know if you have something to contribute to the Valley to help make it better and more enjoyable.  Keep up the good work and watch for your Valley to grow.

Reunion

Our combined reunion with the Valley of Detroit is quickly approaching.  It should be a wonderful experience.  If you have decided to go, there are a few seats left on the bus.  We will leave from this office at 7:00am and return approximately 6:00pm.  The cost is only $10.  If you are driving separate, please call the office and let us know so that there will be enough food for lunch.  There is a reception afterwards and again I would need to know if you are staying for that.  I believe this is going to be a great day.  You don’t want to miss it.  Call now and make your reservation.

6 PETITIONS

The April 14th kickoff breakfast was a huge success.  40 brethren enjoyed a free breakfast, fellowship and meeting.  4 members were in attendance to receive their longevity pin and certificate.  Each member in attendance received a commemorative glass coaster as a gift from the Valley.

APRIL 14TH KICKOFF

There was a conflict with the rental of the Phoenix Lodge for the free kickoff breakfast.  Apparently the Rainbow girls and Scottish Rite both have an event on the same day.  I have relinquished that location to the Rainbow girls as not to disrupt their weekend program.  So, please make note that we are moving it down the road to NORTHERN LIGHT LODGE.  Still at 9:00a.m.  Please tell anyone you see that it has been moved.

Maundy

Great job at Wednesday’s Maundy Service at the Franciscan Center.  I received nothing but praise for the performance and reverence of the program.  The widows were most impressed.  I want to extend that thank you to all those who helped make this possible.  From the stage crew to the office staff to the Rose Croix officers, thanks for a great job.

It is at the Franciscan Center in Sylvania, Ohio Remember, the doors close at 7:55p.m. to uphold the reverence of this program.  There is no charge for this event.

Maundy Services

The annual Maundy Service is just a few weeks away.  It will be held at the Franciscan Center in Sylvania.  Doors close at 7:55p.m. for this solemn occasion.  Please invite your family and friends and neighbors for this free event.

RUSH Night

The Blue Lodges, Scottish Rite and Shriners are all coming together to help grow Masonry for Northwest Ohio.  On Friday, March 16, at 6:00p.m. there will be an interesting program in becoming a Mason and what it has to offer.  We promise you a high impact program plus a wonderful catered meal.  Ladies are invited.  All potential Masons are free.  Masons are $25.00 which includes a great meal.  Bring a non-mason and let’s grow our fraternity.  For questions call: Gary Brown, Zenobia – 419-872-4006.

SPECIAL $50 PETITIONS

The cat is out of the bag.  In conjunction with the Supreme Council’s 200th Anniversary program, we are offering candidates to join the Valley of Toledo for $50.  Our goal is 200 new candidates for the 200th Anniversary.  Print off a petition from this website or call the office for a copy (or more)!  What a great deal and it won’t last long.  We are joining with the Valley of Detroit on April 28th for a combined reunion.  There will be bus transportation to Dearborn for $10, again it includes lunch.  This also promises to be a great day!

Masonic Bulletin

Watch for this month’s Masonic Bulletin.  The whole front page is devoted to the Toledo/Dayton reunion.  It was very well written and in full color.  A big thanks goes to Bro. Bill Markin, editor of The Bulletin.

Oops

This month’s Masonic Bulletin states that there is a charge for the upcoming Maundy Service in April.  I can assure you that there is not a charge, nor will there ever be a charge for this wonderful program for the community.  I do apologize for the misprint and will make sure that it is corrected in the next issue.

Happy New Year

You should have all gotten your new Tidings this week.  If not it is right here on the front page to examine.  I have gotten a lot of calls about how we could leave Toledo at 7:00am and be in Dayton by start of degrees at 8:00am.  I didn’t have any intention of making it on time for the 4th degree.  Originally it was not planned.  Also I didn’t want you to have to get out of bed at 5:00am in order to be there by 8:00am.  That would make a very long and tiresome day.  Call me if you have any more questions.
